Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program
Parenting is a rewarding but also challenging journey. Nobody is born knowing how to be a parent. NOBODY’S PERFECT is a group facilitated by our trained staff for parents of children from birth to age five; offering encouragement and support along the way. The goal of Nobody’s Perfect is to improve participants’ capabilities to maintain and promote the health of their young children.
This program is FREE, but spaces are limited. Registration required:

We are offering playtime activities, caregiver support, and a fun circle time at St. Barnabas Church. Drop in playtime is free, with no pre-registration for all parents/caregivers and their children aged 0-6.

Whether you just need someone to talk with or if you are needing any extra support, our Family Support Workers are available to help you access the resources your family needs to thrive!

About the Facilitator
Dawn Whittaker is an experienced parenting coach and mother of 3 that started her career as a live-in nanny in 1994. Her education and career have always centered around children, as she’s worked with thousand’s of children in Vancouver, BC and around the world to coach and train.
She’s built her reputation and business with a burning passion to support and guide parents to raise their kids using a common-sense approach with a healthy dose of British wit. Naloxone Training for Caregivers Workshop
This 2-hour hands-on and informative workshop for caregivers who might encounter needles or potential overdoses on the street- save a life!
Caregivers and parents: you are the eyes on the street!
You are typically walking strollers and toddlers in the early morning hours or in public spaces, and have likely come across needles or someone who in unconscious. This is your chance to learn what to do when you encounter needles or potential overdoses on the street. This may just save a life!
The opioid crisis has brought to light the devastating effects opioids are having on individuals, families and communities across Canada. Research shows that the opioid crisis continues to grow and that 94% of opioid overdose deaths happen by accident. In addition, young Canadians aged 15 to 24 are the fastest-growing population requiring hospital care from opioid overdoses. (Stats from the College of BC Pharmacists)
This Naloxone training workshop is being offered free to participants as part of our 2022 Family Place New West in-person workshop series. It is not a certificate course, but is invaluable for parents, caregivers and members of the community to protect our families. Come and learn with us!
What to bring: Participants will want to come prepared to learn. They will be given handouts and their own Naloxone kit to take home. Note that adults will be required to wear masks in this workshop.
Instructor: Kristina Selby-Brown, of the Purpose Society’s Mobile Harm Reduction Unit, FTIR Spectrometer Drug Checking Technician.

– Better understanding your child
– Becoming better informed about your child’s health, safety and behaviour
– Improving coping skills to deal with the everyday stress of parenting
– Developing positive parenting skills
– Meeting other parents of young children to discuss real-life parenting situations
– Finding community services and resources
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED Please note that registering does not guarantee you place in the program. All applicants are contacted and are required to go through a short interview process to see if they are eligible, and will be contacted if they have been selected.
