Casual On-Call Childminding

We are seeking passionate individuals for a Casual On-Call Childcare Support role. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in providing a safe and engaging environment for children while their families participate in groups and classes at the same site.

Flexibility and Work-Life Balance: The position requires flexibility to work on a casual on-call basis, with at least one shift per month. A review will be conducted twice a year to assess the role and remaining on call. This makes it an ideal fit for individuals seeking part-time opportunities, such as parents re-entering the workforce, new Canadians looking for work experience, those with unique scheduling needs, including those looking for work-life balance accommodations.

Key Responsibilities:

Childcare Support: Ensure the safety and well-being of infants to the age of 6 during scheduled shifts, implementing emergency protocols and maintaining a hazard-free environment.

  • Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere through age-appropriate activities, initiating play, and incorporating reading and singing into the childcare experience. 
  • Hygiene and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe environment, strictly adhering to safety protocols, and tidying up shared spaces.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with parents, encouraging collaboration and maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Toddler Taming: Stay composed in the face of toddler challenges, ensuring their safety and well-being with patience and care.
  • Inclusivity: Support an environment that embraces and celebrates diversity, fostering an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all, including infants and their parents. 
  • Values Integration: Live and uphold our values within the childcare setting, promoting a culture of respect and support.

Experience:

  • Practical Experience and Passion: Demonstrated hands-on experience with children, reflecting a genuine passion for children’s well-being. 
  • Educational Advantage: While not mandatory, a background or interest in Early Childhood Education is beneficial for understanding child development.
  • Crisis-Ready: Demonstrate composure in dynamic situations for child safety.
  • Communication: Proficiently communicate with both children and adults; additional language proficiency is a valuable asset.

Details:

Location: New West Family Place, Quayside New Westminster, BC

Compensation: $25.00 an hour – Casual On-Call

Monday to Saturday 2-3 hour shifts. Preference for at least minimum 1 shift per month
