Partner Profile: Family Services of Greater Vancouver

How does your organization support families?

In 2019 Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) helped over twelve thousand families, seniors, women, newcomers and youth across the Lower Mainland when they needed the most through our different programs. We offer a variety of programs and created strong supports in different parts of our community.

To build stronger families, we offer family and trauma counselling programs for individuals, children, youth and families; trauma services, conflict mediation for parents and teens; financial empowerment courses and one to one financial coaching, as well as life skill development for children and youth with special needs.

To support youth in overcoming homelessness we offer a 24/7/365 low barrier services centre for youth, a voluntary detox program and safe, temporary housing. We also offer supportive housing for youth transitioning out of Ministry care and Pre-employment programs and provide daycare and parenting supports for young parents in high school.

FSGV also helps victims of violence through advocacy, counselling, safety planning and essential supports, we offer Victim services in partnership with municipal police services, the RCMP and community policy centres and provide trauma services.

FSGV also provides essential programs, workshops and other services to build connections and access support towards developing more inclusive communities. We do this through free workshops, community kitchens, groups and programs for newcomers, parents and caregivers as well as money skill workshops and coaching.
