Community Dreams: 2025 Neighbourhood Small Grants Kickoff

This spring, we had the joy of launching a new season of Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) with an unforgettable community celebration at New Westminster Family Place. The event brought together new project leaders, long-time neighbours, volunteers, and community champions for an afternoon of inspiration, shared learning—and incredible food! Guests picked up their grant cheques, connected with fellow changemakers, and posed for photos with our giant cheque prop in front of our sparkling new Dream Tent, where they could share their hopes for a stronger, more connected New Westminster.

A big thank you to local favourite Columbia Sandwich Company, who provided a generous and delicious spread that fueled all those great ideas and conversations. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Patrick Johnstone for joining us, showing his enthusiastic support for grassroots community action. We are especially thankful to the volunteer Selection Committee members whose thoughtful attention made this year’s grant approvals possible. Your behind-the-scenes care helped bring 104 unique, community-powered projects to life—including 4 youth-led initiatives that are particularly inspiring!
